For the cigar smoker, the cutter is an indispensable tool. A cigar cutter is the only tool to remove or penetrate the end of a cigar before smoking. There are a variety of cuts which correspond to the cutter. The three basic cuts are the straight cut, the wedge cut and the punch.
The straight cut requires a single or double blade guillotine or a cigar scissors. The guillotine is preferred for convenience, while the scissors for precision. A wedge cutter does not remove the cap completely, but rather makes a V-shaped wedge into it. With a punch, a hole is made in the cap instead of cutting the edge.
Cigar holders can prevent damage and breakage, while a filter can block short cut fillers from entering your mouth. Cigar accessories have always added a little extra sophistication to cigar smoking.
